Structural Vibration Control with the Implementation of a Tuned Mass Rocking Wall System

A tuned mass rocking wall (TMRW)-frame structure system is proposed to improve the energy dissipation ability of traditional wall-frame system. Based on principle damper (TMD), a TMRW designed with proper and stiffness according dynamic characteristic host structure. Firstly, considering presence inherent structural damping, amplification factor main was derived from equations mechanism. practical design table then obtained after parameter study. Secondly, by taking six-story frame as an example, time-history analysis conducted study TMRW’s seismic performance. The inter-story drift ratios TMRW-frame, wall-frame, structures were compared, responses controlled uncontrolled also compared. results demonstrate that can effectively reduce displacement structure, lateral deformation mode tends be more uniform. However, compared system, has less coordinating deformation.
